The Shakespeare festival has been on date with its audiences since 1962 with the first performance being ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. The fascinating Kourion (Curium) Amphitheatre at the outskirts of the city is where performances take place during the midsummer evenings. The historical atmosphere along with the quality performers attracts a large number of audience from Cyprus and abroad. Shakespeare plays are produced every year by the Performing Arts for Cyprus Charities. For over 50 years , a multi-cultural, team of professionals and amateurs, volunteer and dedicate their time, talent rehearsing and preparing whether set building, costume designing and finally performing for this charity and cultural event This festival has been crowned with success and its long history and top box office revenues prove it!
