Paphos Aphrodite Festival was established in 1999 with the main aim to organize and host annual international opera performances in early September. The event takes place at the Medieval Castle square in Kato Paphos harbor at an open-air opera stage. Therefore, opera lovers have the opportunity to experience a unique performance as the perfect environment is been created by the event organizers facing Paphos Medieval Castle.
The Paphos Aphrodite Festival organizers every year invite a well-known opera cast to perform in the festival. Some of the past performances include Bizet's Carmen, Verdi's La Traviata, and Puccini's Turandot.
