Amarakos is a stunningly beautiful one hundred and fifty year old stone house converted into a traditional family run Inn. This is a perfect place to stay when you are in Cyprus and desire to explore the Paphos district. Amarakos is located in the village of Kato Akourdalia. A five star hotel may have no appeal to the discerning traveler with a taste for adventure. For this type of tourist it is best to explore the land in the most intimate way possible.
There is therefore no better way than to find lodging in a guesthouse type of accommodation. Big hotels may have fancy amenities but it is difficult to reduce the noise level. There are travelers who want peace and quiet and it is impossible to have that in a hotel with hundreds of rooms. At Amarakos, guests are assured of an intimate evening with their loved ones because there are only seven rooms.
Guests who desire more space and take in the fresh air and beautiful surroundings may opt for one of the four rooms that open onto the terrace and pool. However, those who want more privacy and yet at the same time want to enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer may choose to stay in one of the three rooms upstairs that provides a view of the hills and vineyards of Kato Akourdalia.
Traveling with a large family is not a problem because two of the first floor rooms were constructed with interconnected doors. Although all the rooms at Amarakos are spacious enough to allow a third bed, guest with children may like the idea of the interconnected doors so that they can feel safe knowing that they can easily access the adjoining room where the little ones are sleeping.
The facade of the more than a century old house takes your breath away reminding you of a time when life was savored slowly. Moreover, the exquisite exterior is matched by the beautifully furnished rooms inside the guesthouse. The stone floors, ceiling fans, and wooden beams add another layer to the already amazing experience of visiting the Island of Cyprus.
Guests are treated to a warm welcome at the mini bar. However, those who are hungry after a long trip can go straight to a restaurant that serves traditional Cyprus food. The luscious food is served in a traditional way using authentic materials and recipes. In fact, authentic and traditional equipment is used in the food preparation. Even the salads are made from ingredients taken from the family-owned garden.
Although Amarakos enables visitors to experience the ancient way of the Cypriots, the rooms have modern amenities like T.V. central heating for the winter, a mini-kitchen, air-condition, refrigerator, ceiling fans and Wi-Fi hot spots. All the rooms have a fireplace and the swimming pool is easily accessible. Children will never be bored because aside from the pool there are also children facilities like the mini playground.
At Amarakos the safety of the guests is top priority. Thus, a safety bed for infants is available upon request. In addition, there are facilities made available for persons with special needs such as wheelchairs and large bathrooms with toilets.
